When joining us for Wilderness Rescue Medicine - High Country NZ, included is a helicopter transfer from Springfield, Canterbury to Mt White Station. While making your way via air to Mt White you will pass over a section of the Waimakariri River, one of the largest rivers in Canterbury. It flows 151 kilometres from the Southern Alps across the Canterbury Plains and to the pacific ocean. The river rises on the eastern flanks of the Southern Alps, eight kilometres southwest of Arthur's Pass. You will then journey into the high country environment of the Southern Alps of New Zealand.
RescueMED provide a return shuttle from Mt White station to Christchurch. However, do not let this limit your indulgence of this pristine area, there are other options available. (Please note - while RescueMED will happily offer guidance should you choose an alternate mode of transport to Christchurch, this is your responsibility).
The trans-alpine rail takes you on a scenic journey from Christchurch to Greymouth return with a stop over in Arthurs Pass Village, an opportunity to journey through the pass and experience the West Coast of New Zealand and/or the great Canterbury plains.
