Duncan holds qualifications in Advanced Wilderness Life Support (AWLS), Critical Care Nursing, and radio communications. He’s a lead instructor at RescueMED so therefor a familiar face on courses, known for his calm presence, depth of knowledge, and hands-on teaching style.
As a member of the Australasian Wilderness and Expedition Medicine Society (AWEMS), Duncan works alongside Kerryn and the AWEMS committee in advancing wilderness medicine education and standards across the region.
Whether in the classroom or in the field, Duncan brings deep expertise and a grounded, practical approach to wilderness medical training.
Duncan is a Remote Area Nurse and Wilderness Emergency Medical Technician with a professional background rooted in fire and emergency management. His journey into healthcare was sparked by wilderness first aid courses—and quickly evolved into a passion for delivering high-quality care in challenging, remote environments.
An enthusiastic skier and backcountry walker, Duncan has explored wild and rugged landscapes across Australia and beyond, favouring human-powered travel wherever possible. He's also an active member of Alpine Search and Rescue, bringing real-world rescue experience to every course he teaches.
