Matt is an Emergency Response Officer on a mine site and Paramedicine student based in regional New South Wales. He began his career in the Australian Defence Force and volunteering with the Rural Fire Service, State Emergency Service, and St John Ambulance, before moving into the mining industry. In his current role, he provides medical care along with fire and rescue responses both underground and on the surface. This includes vertical rescue, road crash rescue, confined space rescue, and more.
He has a strong passion for extreme environment medicine and has completed advanced training in trauma, rescue, wilderness, and tactical medicine. Outside of work, he lives on the South Coast of NSW with his wife, a Medical Officer in the Defence Force who shares his passion for extreme environment medicine. He has also a Divemaster and Technical Diver, as well as a Swift Water Rescue Technician with the State Emergency Service. In his spare time, he enjoys canyoning, mountain biking, and skiing.
